Fletcher's Hamburg Soup

3 tablespoons of butter or margarine
3/4 pound of hamburger.
3 onions sliced
1/3 cup of barley
1 can of #2 tomatoes
1 1/2 quarts of water                                                           
1 tablespoon salt
1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
3 carrots sliced
3 potatoes diced
3 stalks of celery, diced
1 teaspoon steak sauce
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

In a large kettle, fry meat until no red is left. Add onions, cook a few minutes
longer. Add water, tomatoes, barley, salt & pepper. Cover and simmer gently, low
heat for 1 hour. Add veggies, Worcestershire and steak sauces, bring back to steaming
point,  lower heat and cook 1 hour. That's it. Eat a bowl or two.
